Established in 1986, the Department of Computer Science at our Karnataka Arts, Science and Commerce College is committed to advancing the frontiers of the discipline through research and education. Our faculty members and alumni are pioneers in the areas of artificial intelligence, computer graphics, and cybersecurity, among others. The Department has modern facilities for teaching, learning, and research. The Department offers a wide range of research opportunities and programs of study at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The training imparted aims to prepare young minds for the challenging opportunities in the IT industry with a global awareness supported by experts in the field of Computer Science.

The Department started Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in the year 1985-86 and Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) in the year 2001-02, M.Sc. Computer Science in the year 2010-11 and  Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in the year 2013-14 to produce quality researchers and high-impact interdisciplinary research.In the year 2018-19, the department started The Diploma in Web Technology (UGC Approved) 1-year course which allows students to learn about the various aspects of designing a website. Web Design is a skilled field in the IT sector. The diploma is designed in such a manner to offer sufficient knowledge and expertise to work on different software

In the year 2021-22, the department started a Certificate course in Domestic data entry (PMKVY 3.0). This course is designed to help in understanding skills related to the Domestic Data Entry Operator. After completing this course, students will be able to get all over knowledge of the work of a Domestic Data Entry Operator.
