The Department of Zoology started in 1982. This Department has been working as the integral part from the very beginning of various courses in the college that come under Bachelor of Science General for Life Science streams. This Department has remained engaged actively in the successful journey of these programs and has started M.Sc. Zoology from: 2018.
The Department has highly qualified, experienced and dedicated faculty with average teaching experience. Our pedagogy focuses on basic and applied fields of Zoology assisted with demos, models, videos, etc. The Departmental laboratories having equipment’s such as: Digital Weighing Balance, pH Meter, Compound Microscopes, Trinocular Microscope, Water Bath, Distillation Plant, Electrophoresis Units, Shaker, Centrifuge and Incubator etc. The Department has a Projector with 2-Computers for the utilization of e-resources and demonstration of dissections.
Zoology is the study of animals wherein the student receives a highly comprehensive exposure to all levels of animal function and their diversity. As a subject it creates enormous interest in us as we are also part of the animal kingdom. Thus, understanding the development and evolution of animals help us to explore ourselves better. In this stream, students delve at a deeper level about how animals are integral component of the ecosystem. Animals also have a major impact on our economy either as a competing for our food or as parasites influencing the quality of public health.
Objectives:
- To provide opportunities for professional and personal development through curricular and co- curricular activities.
- To provide quality education in a branch of Biological sciences i.e. Zoology with different specializations.
- Provide consultancy and organize extension activities
- To inculcate the value based education and entrepreneurial Skills among the students.
- To conduct field studies and different projects of local and global interests.
